What prompted you and your co-author to write The New Long Life?
Demographers have been saying the birth rates are declining and they look at a change in the age structure of society as more old people. If that was the only thing that’s happening that would be concerning but aging is changing and we are aging better. The data says on average we’re living longer healthier lives and that’s fantastic news. This is one of the greatest achievements we’ve had in the twentieth century so that evolved to me thinking about a longevity dividend. How we’re aging is changing so how can we maximize this long time for us as individuals for society.
